MA Network Portfolio Company WitBlox launches a
Robotics Learning App

WitBlox, an ed-tech startup by IIT Bombay Alumni working in the STEM Education Space has launched a Robotics Learning App on the lines of Tik Tok, though strictly for educational purposes which has Video Tutorials on “How to Build Robots”, Drones, DIY tech based projects along with a shop option to buy the components and materials required to build  the same. Recently, Witblox raised funding of INR 1.3 Cr from Mumbai Angels Network. The startup was earlier incubated with Neotech, an incubator and accelerator from Ambuja Neotia.

The STEM toy market of India is estimated at $500 million in 2020. Indian Government is promoting Tinkering in a big way by creating Atal Tinkering Labs in over 5000 schools across the country. Buying tinkering materials and components from the market has always been a challenging task for Tinkerers and parents. This challenge is magnified in a post Covid world and they are dependent on e-commerce for ordering parts and tinkering materials.

“We have a large community of Makers and Tinkerers of over 20,000 who regularly use WitBlox Kits and materials to build cool Robots and Projects. We have simplified electronics by creating modular WitBlox Kits so that even 10 year old children can tinker and build Robots and circuits. WitBlox Kits are ranked No. 1 in the Robotics Kit section by Amazon India. Tinkerers all over India are using our app to learn and build robots, drones and order parts and components to build them.

We felt the need for a platform where Makers and Tinkerers could showcase their ideas, creations and inventions, learn from each other’s work and stay connected. We also wanted to reward our Makers and Tinkerers so that they would take up bigger challenges and projects to upskill. We felt that WitBlox App with TikTok like features for sharing Projects and creations would be a great idea for all the Makers and Tinkerers to showcase their latest creations,” says Amit Modi, Founder & CEO, WitBlox.
“We are proud of backing a startup founder who is actively participating in the #VocalforLocal movement and coming up with apps and technology to further the educational needs of the current generation. We extend our full support and best wishes to them,” says Nandini Mansinghka, Co-Promoter and CEO of Mumbai Angels Network.
